North-West Europe fit for €50M renewable energy call

The Interreg North-West Europe Programme has unveiled plans to launch a targeted call for proposals for renewable energy projects in the countries of north-west Europe next year.

The programme is particularly looking for projects that deal with demonstration, implementation and roll-out of new and emerging renewable energy technologies, with the aim of making them more cost-efficient and compatible with other primary energy sources’ technologies.

For this call, a maximum of €50 million of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funding will be made available under the low carbon priority area.

All projects need to secure match-funding prior to approval, according to the organizers of the call.

The maximum ERDF grant rate for partners is 60% of the total project budget, while the partnership will need to provide the remainder.

Interreg NWE targets applicants from all or parts of 8 participating countries, including Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

A wide range of bodies are entitled to take part in NWE project partnerships including national, regional and local authorities, universities, R&D agencies, non-profit organizations as well as private partners.

Projects should bring together partners from at least three different countries of which two must be from within the NWE area.

Applicants for the call are invited to submit a full application which includes all the details on the project’s intended change and result, the full partnership, the project work plan and budget.

The decision on project applications will be taken by the Interreg NWE Monitoring Committee that will meet on October 25, 2018, after which the results of the call will be revealed.

The deadline for the call has been set for July 31, 2018.
