Geo Plus’ managing director Patrick Defilet asked founding father and former owner Jan Loots to place the coin and execute the centuries old maritime custom, the company wrote on its social media.

At the end of April, Niestern Sander and Geo Plus signed the contract for the building of the vessel, which is 41 meters long and capable of conducting survey and ROV support duties.

Royal Niestern Sander received the first steel for Geo Ranger and started the construction of the first section of the vessel at the end of July.

Alewijnse Marine is in charge of the delivery of the complete electrical installation onboard the Geo Ranger.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in April 2020.
