The extension is valid for additional two months, making the charter firm until September 2020.

The extended period is in direct continuation of the ongoing charter, which started in January 2017.

The Polar King is a multipurpose subsea vessel specially capable of execution operations under severe weather conditions with high manoeuvrability and station keeping capabilities.

The vessel provides offshore construction services, including cable lay support and trenching.

It is also suitable for inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) operations.

Built at Freire Shipyard in Spain, Polar King joined GC fleet in March 2011.

The vessel comes with a 150 ton Active Heave Compensated (AHC) offshore crane, two WROVs and accommodation for 112 persons.

It is designed with environmental features for worldwide service, compliant with SPS 2008 and with a Clean-Design and a Green Passport.

Additionally, its sister vessel Polar Queen followed in October same year.

The vessel was at work in British sector carrying out accommodation services and walk-to-work duties.

Together with Polar Onyx, these vessels complete GC Rieber’s subsea trio.

The SURF vessel Polar Onyx is on a time charter agreement with Deepocean working offshore Ghana to support Deepocean’s contract with Tullow.
