Business & Finance

China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) has taken delivery of Pacific Merit, its newest Ultramax bulk carrier.

The delivery and naming ceremony was held at Chengxi Shipyard in Jiangyin, China, on January 4, 2018.

On the same day, CMES took delivery of New Prime, a very large crude carrier (VLCC), from Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS).

The 64,000 dwt Pacific Merit features a length of 199.9 meters and a width of 32.3 meters. The newbuilding, which flies the flag of Hong Kong, has a market value of USD 22.06 million, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

The delivery of Pacific Merit follows the deliveries of its sister vessels, Pacific Wealth and Pacific Activity, in October and September 2017, respectively.

Back in 2013, CMES ordered two 64,000 dwt energy-saving and environment-friendly ships at the abovementioned shipyard. Following this, the shipping company exercised options to construct additional four Ultramaxes at Chengxi shipyard.
