Under the agreement, LS Cable will supply high-voltage subsea cables, which are essential for transmitting renewable energy from offshore turbines to the onshore grid.

The company’s scope includes engineering, manufacturing, delivery, and installation of cables.

“Selecting LS Cable as our preferred submarine cable supplier is a critical step in the delivery of Taean Offshore Wind Project. Their expertise and proven track record in subsea cable engineering align with our commitment to operational excellence and sustainability. Together, we will work to ensure this project is executed to the highest standards, bringing us closer to a sustainable energy future,” said Kwangjin Cheong, Representative Director of Taean Wind Power.

The 504 MW Taean offshore wind farm is located about 30 kilometers off the coast of Taean in South Chungcheong Province.

Construction is scheduled to start in late 2026, with operations expected to commence by late 2029.

According to Vena Energy, once fully operational, the project will produce enough renewable energy to power approximately 300,000 homes annually.

The developer, headquartered in Singapore, has a renewable energy portfolio totaling 39 GW of onshore and offshore wind and solar projects and a green infrastructure pipeline including 24 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS), 620 MW DC of data centers, and 848 KTPA of green hydrogen and ammonia.

Vena Energy’s 17 GW offshore wind development pipeline spans across Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, and the Philippines.

LS Cable & System, the South Korean company, entered into several agreements this month, one of which is with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for the supply of offshore cables for the Haewoori Offshore Wind 3 project in South Korea.
