International course on marine energy will be focused on the latest innovations in tidal and wave energy, salinity gradient and ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) technologies.

The three-day course will look at the resource potential and the business case for various technologies.

Also, the attendees will be presented with the insights on the design, construction, operation and maintenance of several ocean energy projects currently being demonstrated in the Netherlands by the people who worked on the projects.

Learning goals for marine energy technologies course are as follows:

  • to understand the available technologies for marine energy and asses the feasibility of the various forms such as wave energy and tidal energy,
  • principles of operation, the design philosophies, construction, installation and maintenance,
  • how various feed-in systems work in the Netherlands, but also UK, France and Canada,
  • how to asses resource potential,
  • how to develop one’s own business case model.

The course is targeted at engineers, policy makers, regulators and financial experts, as well as energy companies, marine and energy consultants in the North Sea area.

The course is scheduled to take place from March 16 to 18, 2016, at the Netherlands Water Partnership in the Hague, Bluewater’s facility in Hoofddorp, and Tidal Testing Centre in Den Oever.
