NES to Power Up Fafnir Offshore’s New PSV
Norwegian Electric Systems (NES), a supplier of complete diesel electric system, including the QUEST® system, has won a contract for Fafnir Offshore`s new vessel.
Under the contract, NES will supply the hybrid battery diesel electric propulsion system for hull no. 126, a HD833 WE ICE platform supply vessel, scheduled for delivery in July 2015.
The vessel is going to be built at Havyard Ship Technology`s yard in Leirvik in Sogn, Norway.
This is the second time NES supplies a diesel electric propulsion system for Fafnir Offshore, but this time the QUEST® (Quadro Energy Storage Technology) system is included. The first vessel was a HD832 L WE, which will be handed over in the third quarter of 2014.

- 2 x main prop. motors 0-1200RPM/2100kW/690V
- 2 x motor for bow thruster 0-1200RPM/1100kW/690V
- 1 x motor for retr. azimuth thruster 0-1200RPM/880kW/690V
- 2 x Quadro Drive® for main prop. 2100kW/690V
- 2 x Quadro Drive® for bow thruster 1100kW/690V
- 1 x Quadro Drive® for retr. Azimuth 880kW/690V
- 1 x MSB
- 1 x B.O.S.S.® (Black Out Safety System)
- 1 x R.A.S. (Remote Assistance System)
- 1 x QUEST®-1 Energy Storage System (2×200 + 1x100kWh)
