Nearing winter season bumps Japan's October spot LNG price

The average price of spot-LNG imported into Japan that was contracted in October 2017 reached $8.2 as the winter heating season nears. 

The contract-based price rose 18.8 percent from $6.9 per mmBtu in September reaching an eight-month high, the data from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry shows.

The arrival-based price has also shown an increase from $5.8 per mmBtu in September to $6.1 per mmBtu during the month under review, a 5.1 percent increase.

Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessments, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.
