Qatari LNG shipping giant Nakilat said Monday it has assumed full ship management and operations of Q-Max LNG carrier Mekaines from Shell Trading and Shipping Company.

Mekaines is the second Q-Max vessel that will come under the management of Nakilat as part of the planned transition with STASCo revealed in October this year.

With a cargo carrying capacity of 266,476 cubic meters, Mekaines is wholly-owned by Nakilat and chartered by Qatargas.

The vessel built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries was delivered in March 2009 and has been in service ever since.
