N-KOM and Kongsberg enter services partnership, LNG/LPG included

Collaboration

Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM), founded from a joint venture between Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) and KS Investment, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, and Norwegian tech company Kongsberg have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in maritime services as well as in opportunities related to LNG/LPG.

According to N-KOM, the MoU establishes a framework for structural collaboration in maritime engineering services, vessel maintenance, repair and overhaul, offshore and subsurface products and services, ship conversions (refit/retrofits), and vessel system spare parts.

In addition, it facilitates future collaboration in opportunities related to LNG/LPG safe shipping operations and new technologies for energy-efficient marine and offshore operations.

Kongsberg’s technology and services have been used by multiple companies over the years.

In February 2023, Kongsberg Maritime signed a repeat order with Grimaldi Group to supply engineering and technology for Grimaldi’s new hybrid roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels, and in October 2022, it signed a contract to provide electrification and control systems with automated functionalities for the Swedish Transport Administration’s new fully-electric ferries.
