The project, funded under the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) budget, is to be completed in 240 days with 15 hectares of land reclaimed.

According to local media, reclamation of land in Thilafushi is a phase of the ongoing efforts to cease the burning of waste in Thilafushi.

When all the phases of the project are complete, it would have the capacity to incinerate 500 tonnes of waste daily.
