MPI Offshore Sets Up Humber Gateway Substation

Business & Finance

MPI Offshore’s wind-turbine-installation vessel, MPI Adventure, has successfully completed installation of the Humber Gateway Substation, following a very efficient transportation and installation period.

This contract, which was undertaken for E.ON, involved the load out and installation of a total of 2,508Te, including: Jacket foundation, 8 Piles, Module Support Frame, 2 Topside Modules, Sling Laydown Platform and 2 Stairs.

“The project proved to be both challenging and exciting,”  the company stated.

Early concepts of a Modular build took shape late in 2011, with the building-block approach structured around the lift-and-installation capacities of MPI Adventure. Final preparations and the phased load-out on to MPI Adventure were undertaken from multiple ports, involving many subcontractors, such as drillers, grouters, scaffolders, welders and painters.
