MPI Contractors Secures Prinses Amaliawindpark Contract

MPI Contractors has won a contract by Eneco Windmolens Offshore for the provision of offshore transport and lifting services during main component replacements planned for wind turbines at the Prinses Amaliawindpark.

MPI Contractors’ scope of work includes the exchange of main components, such as gearboxes, generators, transformers, blades and/or blade bearings.

In addition, MPI Consultants will be in charge of the initial design and provision of sea fastenings and grillages, including all engineering and project management.

Starting from 1 January, the agreement is for a period of five years, with options to extend for further three and two years. During this period, MPI Contractors will mobilize one of its wind turbine installation vessels (WTIVs) for two planned campaigns per year.

According to MPI Contractors, the award of this contract was based on the company’s submission scoring best on price and quality in the European tender procedure that began in April.

Eneco’s 120MW Prinses Amaliawindpark wind farm is located 23 kilometers off the coast of IJmuiden, the Netherlands. The offshore wind farm comprises 60 Vestas 2MW wind turbines and has been operational since 2008.
