Business & Finance

Odfjell Drilling has secured a letter of intent (LOI) with an undisclosed party for a two well contract for the ultra deepwater drillship, Deepsea Metro I.

The unit is owned by Golden Close Maritime Corp. Ltd. and managed by Odfjell Drilling. The area of operation is in South-East Asia, Odfjell Drilling informed on Thursday.

Deepsea Metro I will be contracted for two firm wells together with options for one further well and three sidetracks.

The rig manager further said that the firm contract period will be approximately 150 days with a start window in the third quarter of 2017.

Earlier this year, the drillship won a one-well contract with Galoc Production Company W.L.L., a subsidiary of Nido Petroleum, for drilling offshore Philippines. The drilling was agreed to start some time during March and last for four to five weeks.

According to the latest AIS data, the drillship is currently at anchor near Labuan area, off Malaysia.
