The Bittern oil and gas field, located in Blocks 29/1a and 29/1b, was discovered in 1996 and has been developed through five production wells and two water injection wells via a subsea tie-back to the Triton floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The first production took place in April 2000.

A number of well interventions and a sidetrack of B2 well have been executed between 2019 and 2022, and a sidetrack of the B1 well is planned for this year.

Subsea7’s contract scope includes project management, engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of a 22-kilometer 12” water injection pipeline, as well as associated subsea structures and tie-ins at the Triton FPSO and the Bittern field.

Project management and engineering work will commence immediately in Aberdeen, while the offshore activities are scheduled for Q3 2025.

The company said the contract was worth between $50 million and $150 million.

Steve Wisely, Senior Vice President of UK and Global Inspection, Repair and Maintenance at Subsea7, said: “We are pleased that Dana Petroleum has chosen Subsea7 to provide project management expertise and engineering technical knowledge for this important field development. We look forward to supporting Dana in meeting their project objectives and for the opportunity to play a key role in the safe and successful completion of Bittern.

Dana Petroleum is the operator of the field with a 32.95% share, while Serica Energy holds 64.63% and Waldorf Production UK 2.42%.

The Triton Area consists of eight producing oil fields developed via common infrastructure in the UK Central North Sea, located approximately 190 kilometers east of Aberdeen in water depths of 90 meters. Besides Bittern, the fields currently producing oil and gas via the Triton FPSO are Evelyn, Guillemot West and Guillemot Northwest, Gannet E, Clapham, Pict and Saxon.

Subsea7 was last month appointed to undertake project management and EPCI of a five-kilometer 8” production pipeline with a 3” piggy-backed gas lift line and an electro-hydraulic controls (EHC) umbilical on the Belinda field for Serica Energy.
