Moray East Homeports in Fraserburgh

Operations & Maintenance

Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Ltd has selected Fraserburgh as preferred Operations and Maintenance (O&M) port for the 950MW Moray East project.

The O&M port will provide the principal onshore base from which the wind farm will be operated, and from which routine maintenance activities will be undertaken.

Moray East has signed an options agreement with Fraserburgh Harbour to secure the necessary land on which to construct the quayside O&M buildings and facilities.

The site will cover an area of approximately 1,880m2 and include a two-storey building, a berthing facility for wind farm support vessels, a pontoon facility for CTV access, and a storage & unloading area.

Moray Offshore Windfarm East is a joint venture company owned by EDP Renewables (56.7%), ENGIE (23.3%) and Diamond Generating Europe Limited (DGE) (20%). In 2017, the project was awarded a tariff of GBP 57.50/MWhr under a Contract for Difference (CfD) by the UK Government.

Located in the Outer Moray Firth, 40 kilometres from the North East Coast of Scotland, the Moray East offshore wind farm will comprise 100 MHI Vestas 9.5MW wind turbines scheduled for commissioning in 2022.
