Moorings ready for SR2000 connection

Operations & Maintenance

Scotrenewables Tidal Power (SRTP) plans to tow its SR2000 tidal turbine to EMEC’s test site for a short-term deployment.

Green Marine’s Green Isle vessel, supported by RIB ‘Tide Turner, will be engaged in towing operations of the SR2000 device from Hatston Pier in Kirkwall to Falls of Warness, EMEC’s grid-connected tidal testing site.

Once towed to the site, the SR2000 device will undergo preliminary mooring connections.

The device is expected to remain on moorings at Falls of Warness for a short-term deployment starting from October 12, it is stated in a notice to mariners issued by Orkney Islands Council.

To remind, the installation of the moorings-related subsea infrastructure at the site was conducted last week using the same Green Marine’s vessels.

The SR2000 floating tidal device is 64 metres long with the capacity of 2MW.
