Mitsui O.S.K. Lines said that its LNG carrier under construction at the Japan Marine United Corporation’s Tsu shipyard has been named Energy Liberty on Monday.

The Energy Liberty will be the eighth LNG carrier owned and managed by Tokyo LNG Tanker, the company said in a statement.

MOL will directly manage six of those vessels, including Energy Liberty with the capacity to transport 165,000 cubic meters of LNG, that features a Tri-fuel diesel electric propulsion system.

After delivery, the vessel will transport LNG from the Cove Point project in the U.S. to Tokyo Gas, Mol LNG said.

Tokyo Gas, in a joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation, agreed to import 1.4 million tons per year of LNG from Dominion’s Cove Point LNG project.
