As disclosed, MOL became a member of the e-NG Coalition on March 1, 2025, with an aim to establish a stable international supply chain for next-generation fuels and accelerate its initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the shipping industry.

With the addition of MOL, the number of participating companies in the alliance has increased to 20.

Established in October 2024, the e-NG Coalition seeks to promote e-NG, build a global market with aligned emissions accounting and certification standards, and bolster cooperation between all stakeholders along the e-NG value chain.

E-methane or e-NG is a synthetic methane produced from CO2 and hydrogen, and is expected to be adopted on a global scale as a sustainable and realistic approach to carbon neutrality that can be used with currently available LNG infrastructure.

In addition to using carbon-neutral e-methane as marine fuel, MOL vowed to contribute to the broader use of e-methane and the establishment of a value chain by developing a synthetic fuel supply chain, backed by its know-how in LNG transport and expertise in ocean transport of liquefied CO2.
