Mitsui Delivers Bulk Carrier Christina to Ostria Marine

Business & Finance

Japanese shipbuilders Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding (MES) completed and delivered a 66,000 dwt bulk carrier to its owner on March 15, 2018.

The new 38,237 gross ton bulker, named Christina, was handed over to Ostria Marine Co.

Featuring a length of 200 meters and a breadth of 36 meters, the Marshall Islands-flagged bulker is the sixteenth ship of Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding’s eco-ship Neo66BC series.

Earlier in 2018, MES reached an agreement with compatriot builder Tsuneishi Shipbuilding to make a business alliance in the field of the design and construction of merchant ships.

Under the new strategic alliance, the parties will aim to attract a higher order intake and achieve better cost competitiveness, as well as jointly operate Tsuineishi’s overseas shipyards.
