Located in the north side of Hangzhou Bay some 12 kilometres off the coast, the 400 MW Fengxian offshore wind project comprises four blocks. This tender covers the two eastern blocks each with a capacity of 100 MW.

One block will feature MingYang’s 15 MySE6.45-180 turbines, with the turbine delivery scheduled to start in May 2021, the turbine maker said.

Goldwind will deliver wind turbines for the second 100 MW block, according to the local media. The company has not yet officially confirmed the contract win.

The Shanghai Fengxian Phase 1 is China’s first offshore wind project to be tendered under a competitive auction mechanism as the country is moving away from the Feed-in-Tariff system.

The wind farm is being jointly developed by Shanghai Electric Power and Shanghai Green Environmental Protection Energy Company.
