Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery & Engine delivered its regas boiler to Hyundai Heavy Industries’ shipyard to be installed in an FSRU being built for the Norwegian shipowner, Höegh.

The regas boiler mounted on FSRU has a role in providing the regasification unit with the required heat power (evaporation). MHI-MME has been chosen as the supplier of the technology, the company said on Monday.

The boiler type for this project is dual fuel (oil/gas) MAC type boiler, the company said, adding that for the specific project, by recovering the heat of exhaust gas from the regas boiler, its efficiency is improved from 82.5 percent to 95 percent.

Earlier this month, Höegh LNG signed shipbuilding contracts with South Korean shipyards for the construction of a series of new FSRUs, one of which is to be built by Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The delivery of the vessel with a storage capacity of 170,000 cubic meters and a max regasification capacity of 1,000 MMscf/day and with full trading capabilities is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2018.
