Metocean Awareness Course to aid offshore design and operations

IMarEST’s Metocean Awareness Course aims to help professionals in offshore industries to better understand the effects of meteorology that could have an impact on their design and operations activites.

Metocean is a discipline covering meteorology and physical oceanography, and is concerned with quantifying the impact and effect of weather and sea conditions, such as winds, waves, currents and water levels, on a wide range of activities in the renewables and offshore oil & gas.

The course will include a mixture of short presentations presented by expert speakers in this field and interactive workshop sessions including a group case study exercise.

The goal of the course is to demonstrate how greater understanding of Metocean can help organizations improve safety, planning and decision-making process, while at the same time reducing costs.

This 2 or 3 day course takes place in several locations throughout the world, with the Singapore course scheduled for March 30, and UK course scheduled for September 22, 2015.

The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) has registered charity status and represents the professional institution that brings together marine engineers, scientists and technologists into one international multi-disciplinary professional body.
