Melbourne Dredging Scheme Starts Soon

Maintenance dredging works are scheduled to begin on 19 February 2015 in the South Channel West, South East Dredged Material Ground and North Port Phillip including river Yarra, Williamstown Channel, Port Melbourne Channel.

According to Victorian Notices to Mariners, the dredging works will be conducted on a 24 hours/7 days per week basis and will be undertaken with the following equipment:

– Trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Brisbane;

– Sweep tug – TBA (will start operations in May 2015);

– Tender vessel Qua;

– Survey vessel John Norgate.

All dredged material will be transferred to the Port of Melbourne Dredged Material Ground located in Port Phillip.

This dredging scheme is scheduled to conclude on or about 15 June 2015.
