MAS to supply scaffolding and rope access services on Prelude FLNG

AusGroup, through its subsidiary MAS Australasia, has been hired by Technip for work the Shell-operated Prelude FLNG.

Under the deal MAS will deliver scaffolding and provide rope access activities required for the hook-up and commissioning scope of work, supporting pre-investment activities in Australia, South Korea and offshore.

The company said that the contract leads to the creation of new Australian jobs, including skilled scaffolding fixers and trade rope access technicians supported by supervision, safety, administration and management roles.

The Prelude field where the FLNG will be located when completed is in the Browse Basin offshore Western Australia. Once operational, the Prelude FLNG will produce at least 5.3 million tons (mtpa) per annum of liquids: 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate (equivalent to 35,000 bbl/d) and 0.4 mtpa of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
