Mammoet delivers last Yamal LNG Train 1 module to foundation

Schiedam-based Mammoet said the longest module for the Yamal LNG liquefaction project has been set on its foundation at the begining of the month.

According to the company’s statement, at the begining of November, Mammoet transported the 5,400-ton, 103-meter long module from the heavy transport ship to the dock.

“At the buffer area, the module was jacked down. Once the jacking operation was completed on November 5 the module was positioned onto SPMTs and transported to the plant’s foundation,” Mammoet’s statement reads.

The company added that all of the components for Yamal LNG’s Train 1 have been transported to the foundation.

Under its contract, Mammoet is responsible for moving 150 modules and over 1200 smaller items from heavy transport ships in the port of Sabetta to the plant’s foundation.

Yamal LNG is expected to ship first liquefied natural gas from its first liquefaction train by the end of 2017. The second and third LNG trains are expected to come on stream in the second half of 2018 and the second half of 2019, respectively, reaching the full production capacity of 16.5 mtpa.

Shareholders in the Yamal LNG project are Novatek, as the operator with a 50.1 percent stake, CNPC and Total with 20 percent stake each and China’s Silk Road Fund with a 9.9 percent stake.
