Business & Finance

Magseis, a Norwegian geophysical company, has been awarded a contract for a seismic acquisition survey in the North Sea by ConocoPhillips.

Magseis said on Thursday that the contract was for a full azimuth 4D seabed seismic acquisition survey using the company’s proprietary Marine Autonomous Seismic System (MASS) system.

The company’s MASS consists of the in-sea cable and sensor capsules, automated handling, and data download which can provide data acquisition in water depths of up to 3000 meters.

Magseis added that it would mobilize a second, ROV-based crew for the project.

The duration of the contract is estimated at approximately three months inclusive of mobilization to the prospect and will begin during the second quarter of 2017.

Magseis provided no further details about the survey nor the value of the deal with ConocoPhillips.
