Magseis chief executive resigns. Interim CEO named

Norwegian geophysical company Magseis has appointed an interim CEO following the resignation of the company’s chief executive Idar Horstad.

Magseis said last Thursday that Horstad decided to resign from the position of Magseis CEO due to personal reasons.

Before taking up the position at Magseis, Horstad was employed as a senior vice president of CGG Multi-Client and New Ventures. Horstad also held several management positions in Fugro, and Fugro Geoteam as well as being a geologist in Saga Petroleum.

Horstad was named the Magseis CEO in July 2016 and took over the position in October of the same year from company co-founder Ivar Gimse.

The company added in last week’s statement that Horstad would remain with the company for a period to be agreed to facilitate the transition.

As a result of Horstad’s departure from the firm, Magseis named Per Christian Grytnes as CEO.

Grytnes has an international executive background from oil and gas companies, service companies, and start-ups. He started his career as a researcher at Rogaland Research and later joined Saga Petroleum.

He also worked for ODS-Petrodata which was later acquired by IHS where Grytnes worked as an executive for IHS Energy content and data.
