Maersk picks PJ Valves for Culzean

Business & Finance

PJ Valves, a UK-based manufacturer and supplier of valves to the global energy industry, has been awarded a contract to supply over 1,000 valves to Maersk Oil’s Culzean field development in the UK part of the North Sea.

PJV said on Thursday that the £1 million ($1.33 million) deal entails production of forged cast gate globe and check valves in a super duplex and super alloys for the well head, living and central processing platforms.

Also, the company will supply wafer check valves to prevent fluid backflow on these facilities.

Spencer Linsell, Sales Director at PJV, says: “We’re delighted to be working on such a historic project. This contract is a validation of our global territory model whereby we build relationships with project teams in each region.”

The company said the valve package is scheduled to be delivered in 2017 and that PJV has been awarded contracts for the compressor, metering, and water treatment packages.

Maersk Oil-operated Culzean field was discovered in 2008, approximately 250 kilometers east of Aberdeen in license block 22/25a, and the field development was approved in August 2015.

The overall Culzean development concept consists of a wellhead platform, a central processing facility platform, and a separate utilities and living quarters platform with capacity for over 100 people.

The platforms will be linked via two bridges approximately 100 meters in length. First gas is currently expected in 2019.
