Maersk Line Improves India-West Med Links

Maersk Line has launched a new Middle East 5 (ME5) service to enhance direct connections between South India, Middle East and Western Mediterranean markets.

This service will also improve the company’s  coverage of the Eastern Mediterranean market with faster transit times into Turkey, Egypt and Russia.

The first vessel/voyage on ME5 service was the Maersk Idaho, phasing in on Colombo on January 9, 2015, while first eastbound call was in Algeciras on January 28, 2015.

First direct Chennai call will be on February 23, 2015.

The new rotation will be: Chennai (India) – Colombo (Sri Lanka) – Salalah (Oman) – Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) – Aqaba (Jordan) – Port Said (Egypt) – Algeciras (Spain) – Valencia (Spain) – Genoa (Italy) – Port Said (Egypt) – Aqaba (Jordan) – Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) – Djibouti – Salalah (Oman) – Colombo (Sri Lanka) – Chennai (India).
