The Hong Kong Marine Department (MARDEP) said in their latest announcement that a significant amount of rock excavation and dredging works will take place in the Kwai Tsing Container Basin during the following weeks.

The works, set to last approximately 3 months, will be carried out by one drilling barge and one backhoe barge, one grab dredger, one split hopper barge and three tugboats will assist in the works.

The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 150 meters around the drilling barge will be established.

“Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the drilling barge,” said MARDEP.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
