Kuwait: Municipality Approves Land Sites for Renewable Energy

A request for handing over land sites, submitted by Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAF) and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), has been approved, Ahmad Al-Sabeeh, General Director of Kuwait’s Municipality, said.

He added the land sites offer nature reserves, marine and station for renewable energy technologies in Jahra Governorate, stressing that the sites reserves have been identified and planned within the structural plan in Um Naqa, Khabary, and Wadi Al-Batin, which are within the Jahra Governorate, and in Um Qadeer located in Al-Ahmadi Governorate.

Three renewable energy plants have been approved to generate 70 megawatts. Al-Sabeeh explained that 50 megawatts will be produced for solar thermal power plant, 10 megawatt for solar power plant and 10 megawatt of wind power.
