Kriegers Flak OWF Cleared of UXOs

Operations & Maintenance

Danish grid operator Energinet.dk, in cooperation with Boskalis, has completed unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey in preparation for the grid connection of the Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm.

The aim of the UXO survey was to reduce the risk at the cable installation routes.

The cables are a part of the Kriegers Flak Combined Grid Solution (CGS), which aims to interconnect the Danish and German grid via two offshore wind farms at Kriegers Flak and Baltic 2.

During the survey, undertaken in October 2016, a number of objects were identified.

Five objects have been neutralized by the Royal Danish Navy.

The Kriegers Flak is located approximately 45 kilometers from the coast of Rodvig, in the Baltic Sea.

Kriegers Flak plans to start operating between 2018 and 2020 and should help more than double Denmark’s wind power energy capacity.
