Keppel Offshore & Marine boss joins KrisEnergy board

Chris Ong Leng Yeow, CEO of Keppel Offshore & Marine, has joined the Singapore-based oil and gas company KrisEnergy as a non-executive director, effective January 5.

Kris Energy said on Friday that Michael Chia Hock Chye, a non-executive director since 2016, would step down from the board with immediate effect.

Ong will also replace Chia as a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee and the Nominating Committee.

Tan Ek Kia, independent non-executive chairman of KrisEnergy, said: “As a chartered engineer with almost two decades of experience in the offshore and marine sector, Chris brings a wealth of experience to the board at a time when we are focused on our development projects. I would like to extend our gratitude to Michael for his contribution and service over the last two years during which KrisEnergy has undertaken a financial restructuring and a realignment of its business strategy.”

Ong was appointed CEO of Keppel Offshore & Marine on July 1, 2017. Before this appointment, he was the managing director of Keppel FELS. He began his career with Keppel FELS in 1999 as a commissioning superintendent and has held various roles within the company.

Ong is the chairman of Bennett Offshore LLC, Keppel LeTourneau USA Inc, Bintan Offshore Fabricators Pte Ltd, and Keppel SLP LLC as well as a director of Keppel Offshore and Marine and a director in various subsidiaries or associated companies of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd.
