The average price of spot LNG imported into Japan that was contracted during the last month of 2017 was at $10.2 per mmBtu.

Data from  Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), shows that the price has not been at this level since February 2015 when the contract-based price was at the same level.

This also represents a 13.3 percent increased over the $9 per mmBtu price recorded in November.

METI’s data also shows the arrival-based price also rose from $7.1 per mmBtu in November to $8.1 per mmBtu for the month under review, a 14 percent increase.

Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessments, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.
