Japan power companies use less LNG in Sep

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) use by Japan’s power companies declined by 13.3 percent in September 2017 as compared to the same month a year ago, the preliminary data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry shows.

The power companies consumed 3.86 million mt of LNG in September as compared to 4.45 million mt in the same month last year.

When compared to the month before, LNG usage by the power companies dropped 16.1 percent.

LNG purchases by the power companies in September were at 3.93 million mt – showing a significant drop of 13.2 percent on year and a drop of 16.1 percent as compared to the previous month, the data shows.
