Iran: Start of Production from South Pars Phase 12 Planned for March 2012

Early production from the South Pars gas field phase 12, with 27 percent progress in onshore and 71 percent progress in offshore sector, will be started in March 2012,’ managing director of the Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), Mr. Souri announced.

Stating the phase has generally progressed by 49 percent, he noted onshore sector of the project is under construction in Tombac region by Iranian contactors in the form of engineering, procurement and construction contracts, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

“Despite imposing sanctions by the western countries, onshore operations of the phase had progressed by 27 percent”, he noted.

Referring to satisfying concreting operations and construction of infrastructures at onshore sector of the phase 12, he said that installation of steel structures had been started along with completion of designing work and ordering necessary goods and equipments.

He noted that laying pipeline in offshore sector of the phase had progressed by 90 percent adding A and B lines respectively with a length of 149 and 140 kilometers had been completed and the line C is under construction with average progress of two kilometers per day.

It’s worth mentioning that the south pars gas field phase 12 development is the biggest ongoing project of the Petropars Company. The production capacity of the project is equal to three conventional South Pars phases.

It is forecast gas transfer from the offshore part of the phase to the onshore installations to be started up to the end of next Iranian calendar year.

The South Pars gas field phase 12 aims to produce 75 million cubic meters of natural gas, 120 thousand barrels of gas condensate and 750 tons of sulfur per day.
