Innogy Awards O&M Contract to EDS HV Management

Operations & Maintenance

Energy company innogy has awarded high voltage engineering specialist EDS HV Management a contract for operations and maintenance (O&M) management on the high voltage network at Rhyl Flats wind farm.

The contract, running from 1 June, followed a competitive tendering process. It will see Rhyl Flats come under the remit of the EDS Control Centre, through which EDS will manage the HV network 24/7, carry out planned maintenance, and provide fault location services and emergency repairs.

“Our goal is to maximise availability at lowest cost by minimising unscheduled maintenance, and carrying out planned maintenance as efficiently as possible,” Ryan Calvert, Operations Director at EDS HV Group said.

“Proactive maintenance based on effective condition monitoring of high voltage assets play an important role in optimising efficiency, reducing operational costs and managing the LCOE. Our goal is to maximise availability at lowest cost by minimising unscheduled maintenance, and carrying out planned maintenance as efficiently as possible.”

Rhyl Flats is a 25 turbine wind farm located approximately 8 kilometers off the coast of North Wales. It has a maximum installed capacity of 90MW and can provide enough clean energy to satisfy the needs of approximately 61,000 average homes in Wales every year.
