India’s imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) declined in January, after a brief jump in December last year.

According to the data from oil ministry’s Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC), India’s January 2019 imports reached 2.13 billion cubic meters, 11.6 percent below the corresponding month in 2018.

The cost of January imports reached $0.8 billion, remaining flat compared to $.08 billion in January 2018.

Looking at the financial year from April to January, the imports reached 22.84 billion cubic meters, 5.6 percent above the corresponding period last year.

The price of imports from April to January 43ached $8.3 billion, jumping 36 percent from $6.1 billion in the year 2017-2018.

India’s domestic natural gas production rose 5.5 percent last month to 2.84 Bcm.
