Panama Canal celebrates 95 years
The Panama Canal celebrated 95 years of service on Saturday August 15. Since the steamship ‘Ancón’s’ inaugural canal passage August 15, 1914, the waterway has offered its services to more than 983,000 transits. The canal is projected to reach the significant mark of one million transits next year. “Over the past 95 years, the canal has been a part of the evolution of transportation as a vehicle for bringing together nations around the world,” said Panama Canal Authority (ACP) Administrator/CEO Alberto Alemán Zubieta.
