Vestas revenues rise but earnings dip

Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas reported an 11% rise in revenue for the second quarter this year to €1.211 Bn (US $ 1.710 Bn) but saw its earnings before interest and tax fall 15% to €78 m ($110 m) compared with the second quarter 2008.

Danish-based Vestas, which has supplied most of the wind turbines to the growing European offshore wind power sector, said its order backlog remains good, with firm and unconditional orders worth €4 Bn ($5.64 Bn) at the end of June this year. And since the end of the period, it has reported a further €0.7 Bn of orders.
