Seminar on fishing vessel standards plugs training

Delegates from 13 Caribbean countries and the United Kingdom convened yesterday for a week-long seminar and workshop to discuss implementation of safety measures for fishing vessel personnel. The workshop is the last of nine organised by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) as it seeks to get ratification of at least 15 member states to implement the 1995 International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watching for Fishing Vessel Personnel (STCW-F). It was organised in collaboration with Guyana’s Maritime Administration Department (MARAD).
