Subsea World News has put together a recap of the most interesting articles from the previous week (December 25 – December 31).

Saipem has signed a contract with Eni in relation to the West Hub Development project in Angola, which incorporates the work orders previously assigned and communicated in 2016 and 2017 and adds the scope of work for the development of the Vandumbu field in Block 15/06.

The additional activities will be carried out by the Offshore E&C division and encompass the engineering, procurement, construction and installation required for the development of the Vandumbu subsea field at deepwater depths ranging from 1300 to 1500 metres.

McDermott has been awarded a contract between USD $500 million and USD $750 million from Maersk Oil for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) services for the Tyra Redevelopment project, located offshore in the Danish sector of the North Sea.

McDermott will provide engineering, procurement and construction for two separate work packages for Maersk Oil under the redevelopment project. With a combined weight of all structures provided by McDermott at nearly 32,000 tons (29,000 metric tons), the scope of work represents one of the largest combined projects for McDermott in the North Sea.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) has decided to terminate, by agreement with Island Navigator I KS, its shipbuilding contract for the top hole drilling/light well intervention vessel, Island Navigator.

Reportedly, the yard stated that is has been facing difficulties in its engineering process as well as with increases of material costs since the contract was signed.

Ultra Deep Solutions has entered into a 3-year charter contract with an undisclosed client for its DSCV Lichtenstein.

The charter also has multiple 1-year options. The Lichtenstein will finish a contract in the Middle East and head directly over to the Gulf of Mexico, South America, Caribbean area.

IKM Subsea has strengthened its presence in the Middle East with the opening of new office in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

The office is located in Hamriyah Free Zone in Sharjah. IKM’s expansion comes after a period of sustained interest, growth and demand recognition in the IKM Subsea service sector.
