As part of the contract set to start in 2025, Helix will provide an increased minimum number of days annually with the Q5000 riser-based well intervention vessel, intervention riser systems (IRSs), remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and project management and engineering services to cover fully integrated operations from production enhancement to plug and abandonment well services.

The scope also includes equipment that is part of the Subsea Services Alliance between Helix and SLB.

“We are pleased to announce that Helix has successfully executed a long-term contract with Shell, a valued customer we have safely worked with on numerous projects around the world and with whom we look forward to continuing our excellent relationship,” said Scotty Sparks, Helix’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

“The contract is reflective of improving market conditions and increased demand for Helix’s assets and services, as we continue executing on our strategy by providing best-in-class and global leading well intervention services.”

To remind, Helix entered into a multi-year contract with Shell Offshore for well intervention services in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico at the beginning of 2022.

The U.S. company last month announced it had won multimillion-dollar long-term assignments off the coast of Brazil for two vessels which will carry out well intervention work for Petrobras. These are not the vessels’ first assignments with the Brazilian player, as both had contracts for the firm in the past.
