As disclosed, under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), BluePass—developed and operated by UAE’s sustainable energy solutions and mobility provider NeoNautica—will act as Hefring Marine’s official brand partner, allowing the Icelandic company to access to the region’s market.

However, according to a statement from Hefring Marine, both organizations are equally comitted to promoting the adoption of marine technology which would enhance not just safety, but also efficiency and sustainability for vessels operating in the Arabian Gulf.

More specifically, the two organizations have stated that the combination of Hefring Marine’s intelligence vessel systems with BluePass’s reach could lead to ‘positive changes’ pertaining to marine operations in the region.

“This partnership will allow us to expand our reach and introduce Hefring Marine’s smart solutions to new markets in the Arabian Gulf region. We look forward to a successful collaboration and are confident that this alliance will drive growth for both organisations,” said Karl Birgir Björnsson, CEO and co-founder of Hefring Marine.

“At BluePass, we are proud to partner with Hefring Marine, a company renowned for its forward-thinking technology that aligns with our vision for the future of the maritime industry,” said Rami Al Breiki, CEO of NeoNautica.

To remind, Hefring Marine launched the first version of its vessel intelligence system in 2020, after which work continued in order to develop the next generation of the solution. The Hefring Marine system was described as a solution that offers vessel operators the data they need to improve situational awareness, safety, and efficiency on board.

In fact, as informed, the system analyzes real-time data from vessel operations to adopt and optimize speed, route and decisions while continuously logging all trip data in order to enhance tracking, monitoring and planning.

In 2021, the company wrapped up a financing round led by the New Business Venture Fund, an Icelandic state-owned venture capital fund, with the participation of Innoport, the venture capital unit of Germany’s Schulte Group, and TechNexus, a U.S.-based venture collaborative.
