Hawaiki Contracts Mirait for Cable Infrastructure in Sydney

Business & Finance

Mirait Technologies Australia has signed a contract with Hawaiki Submarine Cable LP, the owner and developer of the Hawaiki submarine cable system, for the build of terrestrial infrastructure in Sydney.

The Hawaiki submarine cable system is a new trans-Pacific cable, which will link Australia and New Zealand to mainland United States, as well as Hawaii, with options to expand to several South Pacific islands. The system will be in service by mid-2018.

Under the multi-million dollar contract, Mirait will design and construct the terrestrial cable duct route from Hawaiki cable landing site in Coogee to the Equinix SY4 datacenter in Alexandria.

Kerry White, CEO of Mirait Technologies Australia, said: “Mirait is proud to be associated to such a land mark link. Hawaiki had stringent compliance requirements and our team managed to put together the right solution and get the highest score among the tentative bidders.”

Remi Galasso, CEO of Hawaiki Submarine Cable LP, said: “This contract represents another step forward for Hawaiki system deployment. We are confident that Mirait will deliver this construction component in the most efficient and timely manner.”
