Havila takes PSV out of layup for Maersk work

Business & Finance

Danish oil company Maersk Oil has hired a platform supply vessel (PSV) from Norway’s shipowner Havila Shipping.

Havila said on Thursday that Maersk chartered the Havila Fortune PSV for 60 days firm plus d/d 30.

The company added that the work scope would include Ampelman’s walk to work solution which would be operated from onboard the Havila Fortune.

The vessel will be taken out of layup for the duration of the deal enabling the company to support Maersk through this operation. The 2008-built platform supplier was put into layup late last year as a consequence of the market conditions.

Havila has not disclosed any further details regarding the deal nor the financial aspects of the charter contract.

Current AIS data shows the vessel is currently on its way from Maloy to Esbjerg in Norway.

In related news, Norwegian oil company Statoil awarded Havila Shipping contracts for the platform supply vessels Havila Foresight and Havila Charisma earlier this week.
