H2Carrier, Greenstat to work on hydrogen and ammonia projects in India and Sri Lanka

Collaboration

H2Carrier, a Norwegian provider of floating green ammonia production solutions, and Greenstat Hydrogen India (GHI), a developer of green hydrogen and its derivatives and a subsidiary of Norwegian Greenstat, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to accelerate the development and deployment of green hydrogen and ammonia projects located in India and Sri Lanka.

Under the MoU, the two parties will collaborate on project identification, feasibility studies and the implementation of green hydrogen and ammonia production facilities, with a particular focus on leveraging H2Carrier’s P2XFloater technology for floating production solutions.

Mårten Lunde, CEO of H2Carrier, commented: “H2Carrier is looking forward to collaborating with GHI to promote and expand green ammonia solutions in these key markets. This partnership will identify opportunities to implement floating production solutions that bring both economic and environmental benefits to regions aiming for sustainable energy development. The collaboration between GHI and H2Carrier aims to address the growing demand for green ammonia as a clean fuel and energy carrier while supporting industrial decarbonization in sectors such as shipping, agriculture and heavy industries.”

Sturle Harald Pedersen, Chairman/CEO of GHI, stated: “We are excited to partner with H2Carrier in this transformative collaboration. This MoU aligns perfectly with our commitment to drive the transition to clean energy and deliver sustainable, scalable green hydrogen and ammonia solutions.”

To note, H2Carrier’s P2XFloater technology reportedly enables the production of green hydrogen and ammonia using renewable energy sources, providing a “cost-effective and flexible” solution for large-scale production and export.

In 2023, H2Carrier entered multiple P2XFloater-related projects. The company signed an MoU with Trelleborg Gas Transfer to collaborate in developing a safe, reliable and efficient solution for side-by-side offloading of ammonia when operating the P2XFloater on sheltered near-shore projects. Furthermore, it teamed up with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to develop floating green ammonia projects for industrial-scale applications. Finally, the provider inked a letter of intent (LoI) with Anori to work on the commercial offshore wind farm in Greenland as part of a project to produce and export green ammonia.
