Gwynt y Môr Fund Supports Conwy Culture

Business & Finance

The Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm Community Fund has awarded the UK charity Conwy Arts Trust with a GBP 47,600 grant for the construction of a cultural centre.

The GBP 3.7 million Cornel Celf centre is currently under construction and will devise a programme of arts, culture, and heritage activities once completed in the autumn next year.

The centre will also allow Conwy Arts Trust and other community groups and artists to showcase their work, hold workshops and events, as well as provide arts education projects at the facility.

The area will comprise a sprung floor, wet work area, a teaching and exhibition space, a new library, archive, heritage hub, and café adjacent to Conwy Castle and Town Walls.

“It’s fantastic to see the wide variety of projects that are benefiting from the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm Community Fund, with the Conwy Arts Trust being one of 59 to have received funding this year alone,” said Neil Pringle, Gwynt y Môr Community Fund Spokesman.

“I’m excited to see the positive, transformative work that this latest grant from the fund will enable to occur throughout the Conwy area.”

The 576MW Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm comprises 160 Siemens 3.6MW turbines fully commissioned in June 2015.
