GTT to design tanks for Asian shipowner’s LNG newbuild pair

GTT’s scope of work includes the tank designs for two 174,000 cubic-meter vessels. The French firm’s membrane containment system from the NO96 series will be installed on both.

While the names of the shipyard and shipowner in question were not disclosed, the French firm said the vessels are scheduled for delivery in Q2 and Q3 2027.

This follows tank design gigs GTT secured with South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for one vessel in February, China’s Hudong-Zhonghua for six very large LNG carriers in January, and South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean for two LNG carriers in December 2024.

The firm also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Offshore Engineering & Technology to optimize solutions for floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) and floating storage and regasification units (FSRU).
